Who I work with

Seven places along the path.

I provide individual psychotherapy in English and Spanish to adolescents and adults. These are the places I know best. Most people arrive at more than one of them at once, and life transitions — illness, immigration, loss, a new job or school, becoming a parent, the end of something — run through all of them.

  1. 01

    The first-generation experience

First in the family to go to college, to leave, to earn this much, to say no. Pride and guilt arrive together, and there is rarely anyone at home who knows the terrain.

  2. 02

    Acculturation stress

Whether you crossed recently or decades ago, documented or not, living between two countries asks the body to stay alert. That alertness has a cost, and it deserves a name.

  3. 03

    Cancer & chronic illness

A diagnosis changes the terrain. Treatment, remission, recurrence, or a condition that is simply yours for life — each asks something different of the mind, and each deserves company.

  4. 04

    Grief & loss

Grief is not a set of stages you complete. It comes in, goes out, comes back on a Tuesday for no reason. There is nothing wrong with you. There is something to be carried, and it is easier carried with someone.

  5. 05

    Intergenerational trauma

Some of what you carry did not start with you. Silence in the family, a fear that has no clear origin, a way of loving that looks like control — these travel down generations. They can also stop.

  6. 06

    BIPOC professionals

You did everything right and got in. Now you are managing your work, your face, your accent, other people's comfort, and the question of whether any of this was worth it. That is a second job, and it is unpaid.

  7. 07

    Identity exploration

Gender, sexuality, race, culture, class, faith — you may be questioning one or holding several at once. This is a place to find out who you are without having to decide in advance who you are allowed to be.

Some of the things we work on

Across every place, the same ground.

  • Identifying meaning and values; stepping off autopilot
  • Managing depression, anxiety, and stress
  • Processing trauma at a pace your body can hold
  • Adjusting to a new normal after illness or loss
  • Discussing a diagnosis and expectations with loved ones
  • Family conflict, guilt, and shame
  • Identifying patterns in emotions, thoughts, and relationships
  • Understanding the influence of the past on present behavior
  • Developing self-awareness and an authentic self
  • Creating a sustainable, values-driven life
Not sure which place is yours?

You don't have to choose a page.

Most people call because something is wrong and they are not sure what category it belongs to. That is fine. The first call is fifteen minutes; describe what is happening and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person — and if not, who might be. Read how I work or the questions people ask.

The trailhead

Ready to start?

A first call is fifteen minutes. We talk about what brings you here, whether we are a fit, and what a first session would look like. No portal, no paperwork before we talk — just a conversation.
